Star Wars Battlefront 2 Gets “Rogue Squadron” Type Multiplayer

If you ever owned a Gamecube back in the day then you’ll probably remember Star Wars Rogue Squadron 2: Rogue Leader. It was one of the best Star Wars based spaceship battle games of all time. It was launched on the same date as the Gamecube system in North America back in 2001. 16 years later, it appears the dynamics of the game has made a comeback but this time in the form of multiplayer skirmishes.

The game mode entitled “Starfighter Assault”, will put up to 24 players against each in an objective based space fight. EA, showcased this in a live demo at Gamescon today and we can honestly say we are hyped about this new addition to the franchise. Its been quite a while since we’ve seen anything Star War’s oriented that took place in space aside from maybe a single player story line mission, but not in the realm of multiplayer. Players will also have the ability of choosing from various characters from the series and their respectable ships, such as Luke Skywalker and his iconic X-Wing fighter.

All in all, the trailer for the Starfighter Assault mode looks very promising and we can’t wait for the November 17th release!
