Now I know how Matt Damon felt.”

This week we travel to the moon to retrieve the fragment of the spear that Eobard Thawne is after. To be honest, I was not entirely sure what to write about on this episode. Overall, Moonshot was a pretty good episode, but the end really took the cake.

Apparently, speedsters need gravity for their speed powers to work? Ok, I can get behind that. Trusting Thawne with the angle of entry was a bold move, but his prime directive — survival — means his honesty is to be taken seriously this time.

When Commander Steel sacrificed himself in front of Nate, a grown man like myself began to tear up. Keep in mind, this is the same show that just had Victor Garber making an ass out of himself distracting NASA by singing “Come Mr. Tally man, tally me banana…” That is a varied array of emotions.

Overall the plot of the episode was fairly light, but the emotional death of Hank at the end, right in front of his grandson, was very emotional. Rip is clearly uncomfortable with his return to the Legends, seeing that they seem to be firing on all cylinders without his help. He quickly admits that Sara is the undeniable leader of the team now.

I am glad the Amaya and Nate love plot is seeming to die down. It really is not necessary and bogs down the plot of a show that needs to balance character development to several characters.

Easter Eggs: (Pretty light this week)

  • Mentioning Matt Damon and The Martian. They do shoot a similar scene with Ray through the circular camera just like in the Martian.
  • Beautiful rendition of Day-O (The Banana Boat Song)  by Martin and Co. reminiscent of Beetlejuice. Brings back some funny memories.

What did you think of Moonshot? Let us know!

Take a look at the trailer for next week where the Legends attempt to track down the last remaining fragments of the Spear of Destiny and they run into a familiar face from their past.
